Russia’s MTS, MegaFon agree to settle all MNP discords
MOSCOW, Feb 13 (PRIME) -- Major Russian mobile operators MTS and MegaFon have decided to settle all disputes about the transfer of telephone numbers uner the mobile number portability (MNP) service, according to the operators’ joint statement released late Thursday.
“According to the memorandum, the companies will do their best to settle all court and administrative proceedings, arguments and claims, concerning the MNP activities as soon as possible,” the statement read.
The operators’ discords stem from a transfer of telephone numbers of senators of the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house, and the headquarters of the Internal Ministry.
The companies agreed to discuss all the MNP issues in a working order and settle arguments through negotiations. They will be guided by the supremacy of the subscriber’s right to keep the number.
The memorandum was concluded for an uncertain period and is open for participation by other connection operators.
“We are trying to remove reciprocal claims so that we could cooperate and develop mutually profitable projects in the period of an unstable economic situation,” MTS’s press secretary Dmitry Solodovnikov said.
“The operators decided to leave in the past proceedings on MNP and focus on efficient work on the corporate market and the development of healthy competition. Our aim is not to sue, but to work and compete, win in new tenders.”
